Directions to Kalela from the direction of Tampere:

From Tampere you can drive to Kalela

through Orivesi (road number 9) and from there further towards Ruovesi (first road 58 and then road 66) 

or you can take perhaps a little bit shorter but at times slower route through Teisko on road 338 which in Jäminkipohja connects with route 66 from Orivesi.  Along this route you will see some of the most beautiful countryside in Northern Häme.

Six kilometers before the village of Ruovesi and less than a kilometer before the Kautun vuolle bridge you turn right towards Pöytäniemi at a T-junction marked with signs towards Kalela.

After the turn you drive 2.8 kilometers ahead until the end of the paved road, where you turn left by the red-painted barn to a country road that leads to the parking lot ca. two hundred meters away.  (The walking distance from the parking lot to Kalela is ca. 200 meters).

Should the weather be rainy, please bring a pair of water-resistant outdoor shoes to make it from the parking lot to the artist’s studio.  We try our best to make your visit as comfortable as possible, but please remember, you are in the Finnish wilderness!
