A truly unique and unforgettable way to reach Kalela is to step aboard the 100-year old steam boat MS Tarjanne on any of its stops by Lake Näsijärvi between Tampere and Virrat.  Groups should book ahead for a trip on MS Tarjanne.  Please notice, that if you arrive aboard MS Tarjanne you should arrange for alternative transportation such as a taxi to Ruovesi to pick you up after your visit to the museum.  The museum staff will be happy to assist you with this.  For information on arriving to Kalela aboard MS Tarjanne please call 03-212 4804/ 212 4803.

If you have a boat of your own you can sail straight to the Kalela main dock for a visit in the wilderness studio.  If you arrive in the afternoon, please coordinate your anchoring with museum staff as MS Tarjanne stops shortly at the same peer on certain days.  Also paddlers are welcome, however, when planning to arrive by kayak please coordinate with Kalela museum staff as to the appropriate place to land on the Kalela peninsula where the pristine nature is carefully protected.

Welcome!
