Directions to Kalela from the direction of Helsinki:

From the Helsinki (south) the highway will take you past lush pastures and corn fields to Tampere after which the road continues through beautiful forests past Orivesi municipality and then to Ruovesi. 

An alternative scenic lake-side route passes by Pälkäne and Kangasala to Orivesi and from there continues on highway 66 towards Ruovesi.

Six kilometers before the village of Ruovesi and app. 800 meters before the Kautun vuolle bridge you turn right from the highway towards Pöytäniemi at a T-junction marked with signs to Kalela.

After the turn you drive 2.8 kilometers ahead until the end of the paved road, where you turn left by the red-painted barn to a country road that leads to the parking lot ca. two hundred meters away.  (The walking distance from the parking lot to Kalela is ca. 200 meters).

Should the weather be rainy, please bring a pair of water-resistant outdoor shoes to make it from the parking lot to the artist’s studio.  We try our best to make your visit as comfortable as possible, but please remember, you are in the Finnish wilderness!
